The Blue Studio is an homage to Matisse's The Red Studio (1911). Much like Matisse, Johnston aims to immerse the viewer in a world of color. Perhaps the most thuruough expression of Johnston's blue motif to date, this canvas offers an intimate invitation to the artist's bedroom studio in a grand scale.
